Our clients, employees and partners share a common certainty about URS: safety is paramount.
Health and safety are more than policies at URS – they form the foundation of how we work in the field, at our sites and in our offices and laboratories. In addition to benefitting our employees through reduced injuries and lost work, our commitment to safety affirms our strong performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Our commitment to safety has gained recognition from clients, regulators and professional organisations worldwide, including the United Kingdom’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), France's Manuel d'Amélioration Sécurité des Entreprises (MASE) and Union des Industries Chimiques (UIC), and the U.S.’ Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA).
URS operates a formal quality management system based on the requirements of the International Standards Organisation ISO 9001:2008. This ensures a consistent management and delivery of our services and provides measurable standards from inception to final delivery. Through our countries, URS also holds ISO 14001, ISO 17020, ISO 17025 and OHSAS 18001 certifications.
The following accredited registration bodies register our quality management system: British Standards Institution (UK/Ireland, The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia); SGS (Germany) and Det Norske Veritas (Italy). The scope of registration covers the majority of URS offices in Europe and the Middle East and includes civil and structural engineering, building services, construction management, environmental management consultancy, environmental engineering, facilities management, geotechnical engineering, highway engineering and maintenance, and social, economic and sustainability services.
