URS is a major contractor to government agencies throughout the world. In Europe, we manage one of the world’s most complex nuclear waste cleanups for the United Kingdom’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority; in Australia, we provide environmental services to the Department of Defence and other national agencies; in Poland, we provided management and supervision for the replacement of a 27-kilometre national roadway.
URS’ global reach and resources, allied with an understanding of the special needs of government clients, enables us to successfully manage large, multidisciplinary programmes in multiple locations.
Core government services include the remediation of existing and former military installations and hazardous waste sites, decommissioning former military bases for redevelopment, and assessing and mitigating damage caused by natural and human-made disasters. Our core services also include planning, designing and constructing aircraft hangars, military facilities and a wide variety of other government buildings.
The Company is also a leader in global threat reduction programmes, which eliminate nuclear, chemical, biological and conventional weapons around the world. We have helped clean up more of the Cold War’s chemical and radioactive legacy than any other company.
